If the OP is talking about how to get the books from a Kindle into a Calibre library then this IS an appropriate forum. If Calibre is not involved, then some other forum should be used.

hello i have posted on some mac forums but got no replies yet,i am thinking that it maybe is a Calibre forum post ?
before the format when i inserted my Kindle 3 i could see all my e-books in the Calibre library so i am thinking there must be a way to put them back to Calibre ?
thank you.

If you start up Calibre pointing at a (presumably) empty library, and then plug in your Kindle does Calibre see it? If so you should be able to switch to the Calibre device view (by clicking on the device button on the main toolbar) and from there right click the books and select the option to copy them into the Calibre library.

Hopefully next time around you will copy your Calibre library to somewhere safe before reformatting the hard drive
