Best for A4 pdf
Hello, I am new to this forum. The reason I am hear is to find the best PDF viewer. I do not need wifi or internet capabilities. I don't need programs. What I am after is a device that can disply PDF file in their original size (mostly A4). I wish to use this a mobile teaching tool where I can present information, tables, charts, diagrams and text (that I prepare myself). I will need to use it in an outdoor environment. I could buy a tabley computer but it has a lot of stuff I don't want. Mobile phones or ebooks (have a kIndle already-wonderfull bit of kit) don't have large enpugh screen sizes. I would like to have an electronic equivalent of A4 pages. Any tips?
Thanks in advance. John |

I honestly don't think there is a perfect device for PDF at this moment but iPad+Goodreader is the closest thing you can get. It is fast when turning pages, has annotations, reflow, it is just good.
Kindle DXG is a good alternative but no annotations and once you have "tasted" the iPad you will find it slow. But it is good and has a good screen size. Better battery life than iPad by the way (several weeks) Anything else will be or too expensive or painfully slow, or too small, so you will have to scroll up and down several times. That's annoying, at least for me. |

If you need it outdoors, and don't need colour, a Kindle DX might be better than an iPad. From what I hear, LCD isn't so great in bright light, while e-ink works more like paper.
Maybe people who actually own an iPad and tried using it outdoors can chime in. |

Well,
I have both, and that's true. But in terms of PDF, the DXG is painfully slow and lack of a lot of features. If something is small and you need to zoom, it is slower than the iPad. If editing is not a must on a PDF, the Kindle DXG is an ok choice. But if editing is a must and the reading will be indoor mostly, iPad is the way to go, with GoodReader I mean. A shame Amazon has not upgraded the Kindle DXG firmware. There is a lot of potential on that device. |

The enTourage eDGe is a possibility. It does have features you don't want, but you can just have the e-ink side "up" and ignore the rest. The full-sized eDGe is 9.7" on the e-ink side. It does reflow, annotations, etc. The only caveat is an unknown future for the company.
