Comic books
Does anyone know where to download comic books/manga (either free or paying) for the sony reader? I would like to be able to download a free one first preferably just to see how it looks on the reader.

The Sony Reader store has some free comics/manga on the site. You could download a few of those to see how they work out on the reader.
Not sure where to buy comics from other than that. I know Dark Horse Comics has a thing on their website about a Digital Comic book store coming soon, but I'm going to take a wild guess that it is going to be an app you download onto a device (ipad/smartphone/tablet) and read the comics through that instead of being a downloadable pdf file that could be read on a reader. |

There is a free (and legal) to download Lone Wolf graphic novel available here:
http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/TheSkullOfAgarash It's a PDF file, mostly in black and white. Might be the kind of thing you're looking for if you just want to know how well the reader displays complex graphical PDFs. |

Tried it
Hmm okay I tried it, the best way I found was to read it on landscape on large but you then have to cut the page in half. It's not ideal for reading comics though I imagine the 9 inch sony probably works much better.

The Digital Comic Museum has golden-age, public-domain comics in cbr/cbz format (they'd need to be converted), and Underground (an indie comic) is available in CBZ or PDF form.
Standard-size comics don't do well on 6" ebook readers, even using the landscape view. Some manga, with smaller page sizes, would do better (I don't know any sources for free manga), but it's still more picture than fits well in that screen size. |

Manga
I tried reading some manga on it, just images that are named so they follow in order when I change and that actually works pretty well.
If anyone knows sites where I can download more of that kinda thing it would be nice. |
