Classic successful root of 1.4.3 serial 10048x

I was finally able to root my 10048x nook from 1.5 using Naerymdan's instructions on the nookdevs site with a couple of exceptions. I could not successfully connect with adb until I added a third dns entry and started over. That entry was for com.bn.sync. Not sure why that made a difference but it did.

Second was trying to get the 1.5 update after the successful root when trying to check for new content I get unable to complete the operation please call blah blah. this was with both leaving the dns entries in my router and taking them out. any suggestions?

I rooted my 1.4.1 serial 10038x nook and had the same problem when I tried to upgrade to 1.5.

Here's what didn't work for me, followed by what did.

What didn't work:
I removed the entries in the Windows host file.
I rebooted the modem.
I rebooted the router.

What did work:
I unregistered my Nook, then re-registered.

Of note, the first time I tried to update, I got an error. I rebooted and tried again, and the download / update worked.

Alright, so I got the update to 1.5 to work (as mentioned in my previous post). But two days later, I have reverted to 1.4.1. The 1.5 update worked fine and added the new functionality, but...the new functionality wasn't a big deal to me, and, for whatever reason, the battery life was a lot shorter. Like, a day at most. And that was in airplane mode with adb turned off.

So I've gone back to 1.4.1.
