Digi Books Cafe, a Read an E-Book Week partner, is offering eight free Monthly Specials For March :

1. Expedition of Love
2. Beauty And The Geek
3. Hot Blooded - 38 pages
4. Hyacinths in Winter - 5075 words
5. Promises
6. Redemption
7. Target
8. Those Baby Blues

They're available in 3 formats: HTML, LIT and PDF. Only one format goes into the cart at a time, but it's possible to go back & add the other formats to the cart. Checkout requires registration through the site, which wants a name & address in addition to email. Purchases can only be downloaded 5 times.

Warning note--the PDFs have atrocious metadata. Beauty and the Geek, for example, has the title as "Microsoft Word - BeautyAndTheGeek_w829.doc," and the author in the PDF Doc Info field is "Robbie Barrett," despite Roni Adams being listed on the cover, and the book being copyrighted by Rhonda Penders. (Presumably, Roni Adams is a pen name.) And they're not tagged; reflow may be awful.

But they're not locked, so they're editable/fixable. (And people can use the HTML version, but that doesn't have the cover art.)

I tried reading the TOS to sort out whether they claimed these are purchases or licensed uses; they seem to say "license" but the TOS is convoluted and rather lacking in info about the sales part of the site. It's not at all clear what they're claiming to sell.

Sheridon Smythe is awesome! She is a former Dorchester author and I just love her books and this one was on the wishlist to get! The Promises by Jo Barrett I already own but she's another great indie author.

Wild Rose Press books I usually buy so this is really nice to get some for free!

Do you mean epub? Html and lit should be easy to convert from, using calibre.

Very much romance from what I could see. I registered with my special anti-spam addy just in case, and grabbed them all, for the next time I'll need a romance fix. The lit files converted smoothly in Calibre but I haven't checked the result yet.
