PRS-650 I have found a PRS650 in Mississiauga - read my story

Hello all,

after doing a ton of research, I have decided a couple of weeks ago to buy a PRS650 (I am in Canada - in the GTA).

Deciding was easy - finding one was not.

First, I called Sony Canada directly. I was told that it may be May before they will have the PRS650 in, so they suggested I get a Kindle if I need an ereader before May.

Then, I called Dell (as they are running currently a promotion $30 off on the silver unit. Promotion was for example in yesterday's Globe and Mail as an insert). Dell first denied that the promotion existed, then they said they will honour it, but it may take a few weeks to ship the item as it is backordered.

Finally, after calling a few Sony stores, I ended up at the sony store in the Erin Mills Town Center. I spoke to Thomas in the store, who told me that there are a number of units (some open box, some new) available - in QC. He offered to get one from me from QC. So, two days later I call Thomas in, and he confirms that my brand new 650 is ready to be picked up... I just picked it up and it is being charged now. I really like it so far (the solid case, the beautiful screen!).

Now, for anybody in the Mississauga area: feel free to call Thomas at the Erin Mills Town Center Sony Store: maybe he can get a reader for you as well. The number is 905-820-5112

I can't believe a Sony employee actually told you to get a Kindle. No wonder Amazon sells so many more units when Sony, rather than trying to find one of their units for a customer, tells the customer to go buy from the competition.

I applaud the Sony employee who recommended the Kindle. The customer wanted a Sony. Sony cannot supply the customer needs for ~ 3 months. Salesperson recommends a good alternative if they need it earlier.
