Exclamation Using the eReader without Windows...

I use Linux instead of Windows and have no access to Windows machines... will I be able to read eBooks?

For what I know I will never be able to read ePub with Adobe DRM (it necessitate a Windows software and anyway I dislike it politically) but can I read ePub without Adobe?
For example I cannot read this http://www.ibs.it/ebook/Canavan-Trud...842918745.html but can I read this http://www.ibs.it/eBook/universo-dis...865300893.html?
It's with a DRM called 'social DRM with watermark' or something like that... if I buy it with mine PC moving it directly to the Opus I will be able to read it instantly?

Yes, ePUB without DRM works out of the box. Just copy the file to the reader (it behaves as a USB drive), and read it.

Actually, ePUB with Adobe DRM is the same, the trick is you need ADE to download the book to your computer.

Thanks Jellby.

Hope Adobe DRM will fail badly, it's not good to pay to feel treated like thieves. In the meantime I will never buy those books affected.

Linux user too

What i do is run ADE with wine to download the books. Then use inept to disinfect the books.
Getting the adobe key though wine might be tricky, but i think i can work.

To me it's better to avoid heavily protected books completely, they must understand that will lose money pursuing that way. Luckily there are lots of books unprotected (or just watermarked) to buy.
