Bit of Applause for Some Old Technology
I am sure this is recycled news to most old timers here, but thought I would put a couple of kudos in for three of my favorte Firefox add-ons/eBook apps. I know there are lots of newcomers to the form and many just getting started w/their readers.
dotEPUB, http://dotepub.com/, is super fast as it does not copy JPGs, but it does a seemingly perfect job in formatting, saving in book-like form w/the article heading as a title. Occasionally a website will not allow dotEPUB to copy...not sure why or how but it is infrequent. Web2FB2, http://web2fb2.net/, has the option to copy with or without images (without is, of course, faster) and gives you a chance to preview the FB2 version, which you can then download in either FB2 format or ePub format. Sometimes this one saves more surrounding garbage than necessary in which case I don't download and opt for... ...Page2Pub, http://opl.rit.edu/projects/page2pub/, which also captures images, but you have the option to "gather" specifically what you want saved. It's a bit more labor intensive that the other two but was my first and is a faithful 'go-to' app. I save a lot of long articles and use all three daily for more concentrated reading later. I've also copied them into Calibre and sent them to my k3. I've had limited experience w/some of the popular off-line readers but none of them work for me as well as these three beauties. d |

I always read these on the Sony or the QT7, but I'm sure you could just convert the epubs to mobi w/Calibre and send them to your Kindle.

Do you use that readlater thing from Instapaper? That works pretty good for me. Just a side note, it's probably copyright infringement.

Well, making copies of websites for your own use should be about the same as recording a video from TV. As long as you don't redistribute the results, I don't think there'd be a problem.
