Installing Calibre on new computer

I have my Calibre library folder on an external hard drive. I am getting a new computer and am wondering if, when I install Calibre on my new computer, are my settings and plugins stored with my library info, or will I have to reinstall my plugins?

I don't know what OS you're using, but in Win Vista (and I guess Win 7) those plugins and settings are in username/app data/roaming/calibre. When I reinstalled Windows a couple of weeks ago I just backed up my Library and that app data folder, then after reinstalling Windows and calibre I copied everything back where it belonged. It started up like it had never left. Not all software does that quite so easily, but it worked beautifully for me with calibre.

Edited to add: App data folder may be hidden by default so you may have to unhide hidden files and folders to see it.

I am using XP but will be using Win7. I found the calibre folder under C:/Documents and Settings/user name/App Settings/Calibre, so I am backing it up and will copy it into same or similar in Win7, hope it will work.

Thanks for your help.

It might be that you'll need to reinstall your plugins, I dimly remember something about not being able to just copy them over and be done with it.

Okay Manichean, it is worth a shot, but if it doesn't work, I'll go back and do it manually. But, as I am lazy and not that computer savy, I am glad that I can come to MR forum and use the guides to reinstall them. Thanks for your help.
