Mpub
There is now a new mpub wiki page with information on this mobile ePUB format. It is another incompatible version of ePUB although all the content pages are the same.

Hi,
Yes, all the world needs is yet another epub variant. Too stupid for words. According to the wiki, the xhtml content is basically unchanged so why they claim it is better for "mobile" devices when epub was specifically designed for mobile devices (and reflows, etc) is beyond me. It looks like they just didn't understand what the opf and etc were for and so created their own. The funny thing is that if the xhtml is basically unchanged, then it simply can not be more mobile friendly! A marketing gimmick if I ever saw one. Hopefully it will die a quick death and whatever company that pushed this out there will be soundly thrashed. |
