I searched but could only find threads more on making covers or using covers intended for other readers.
I know that the 950 is new, so there probably aren't a lot of covers meant specifically for the 950 yet. But, that's what I'm looking for. I'd rather just get one that I know will for sure work perfectly for my (soon to be had) 950. So, what are all the covers (and decals) made for the 950 in particular? And I was thinking this could be a catch-all thread for all 950-specific accessories (unless there already is one that I missed...). For instance, I was also wondering about e-reader lights - will any work or are they each made for a specific e-reader? I've never had one, but am planning to get one this time. |

As a new PRS950 owner, I have also been looking for case, decal, and cover options for this ereader. As you noted, since it is so new it may be some time before we see something specifically.
Soon, I will be giving a hands-on user review of my, recently purchased, new BookArmor Case for the 950. I had one for the 505 and loved it. http://www.extremeinkjet.com/BookArm...okarmor950.htm Last edited by gardenstate; 11-28-2010 at 08:24 AM. |

Not much available yet, though I've heard of some people using Nook original version covers. I gave up searching and ordered the Sony premium cover w/o light version. I think it is way too pricey, but there just isn't much available. Here is a tip if you buy the Sony cover. Get the 950 first, then register it. That will get you a 15% discount code for use on accessories. It is not much, but it saves you a few dollars. Sony ships their cover free, so that helps too. I purchased mine last Monday and got it on Friday using the free shipping, and that is not bad for Thanksgiving week.
I still paid $32.12 USD including the 8% sales tax even with the 15% discount. The cover is nice, but probably worth more like $20 IMO. I really want a decal set to cover up that horrible shiny silver color, so if anyone see these please let me know. i miss the black color of my old 900. Yes, I want a decal too. I mostly want one because the silver metal looks like it might scratch easily, and I want to protect it.

As Whitman wrote, "I won't tell everyone, but I will tell you." Oh Mobileread friends, CaseCrown has a big sale on their covers and cases for ereaders (on their own website), and free shipping: http://www.casecrown.com
I guess sometimes it's good to go straight to the manufacturer. I couldn't find any better deal than their 40% discount. They had twelve and $14 cases, and it was nice to have a choice of color. |

And use code MEM20OFF to get another 20% discount at casecrown.com. I tried it, it works.
Edited to add: And I've since found another code, for 35% off: THANKS35 (I never buy anything online without first checking to see if I can find a coupon code. it's amazing how many are out there, and how easy they are to find.) Last edited by elizilla; 11-30-2010 at 12:34 PM. |

Great site for cases. Thank you.
Really looking for a case with a light though. Or a separate light that I can attach to a case like these or to the reader itself. Any help would be appreciated. Read bad reviews about the Sony one and it is a fortune. Found one for like $13 that was Sony branded from tigerdirect but I think it is the old version for the 900 and not sure it will work. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...y=REVIEWS#tabs |

Thanks for the coupon tip, elizilla. Where do you go on line for such coupons?
Sonics99: Amazon has that same model # for $11.98, claiming it's compatible. As to separate light, you might want to go to Target and see their "Capstone e-book lite"---I've read good reviews. (Avoid the Rocketfish clip-on light at BestBuy; mine fell apart as I opened the package. Ugch. Who could sell such shoddy @#$%^ with a straight face?) |

Thanks Roseprose. Does it mention it works with the 950? Or just say daily?
I'm only worried about compatibility because the case on sonystyle specifically states that it doesn't work with the 900 and only works with the 950. That makes me believe that an old case won't fit the 950. ![]() I'll check out the light though. If I can get by with the light and get a case later it is fine. |

Sonics99: That's odd. The stated exterior dimensions of the 900 and the 950 are identical: 7.87" X 5.04" X .38". The 950 only differs in weight; it's slightly lighter.

I did not even bother to order a case for my PRS-950. I'm hoping that either one of my PRS-900 cases or Kindle 2 cases fit it since I have multiple cases for both.

I just checked an I can't find where it said it now but I swear that is what it said. Going to order the $12 one I think and see if I can make it work.
Looked for that light on target's site but didn't see it. Guess I'll have to stop by and see. |

I have the eBook Lite from Target. It was about $20. You can find it in the electronics section with the Kindle accessories. I like it because it distributes the light evenly across the screen. It has a spring clip that supports variable thickness of the reader plus cover so I can use it with both my Sony's and my Kindle. It is very similar to the Kandle light on Amazon. Also try a google search. Capstone has a website for their products.

Roseprose, here are my favorite tricks when I'm searching for coupons:
1. I do a few google searches for the name of the site/store and words like "coupon" or "discount" or "promo". You get a lot of drek, and a lot of expired coupons, but there is often some good stuff there. Another good search term is "group buy" since a lot of enthusiast forums negotiate discounts for their members. 2. I visit a coupon compilation site called retailmenot.com. Of all the discount code sites that will come up when you do the google searches, they're the only one I've ever found useful. Unfortunately a lot of merchants have gotten wise to them and it will say "User submissions blocked by request of the merchant" and some lame sales that aren't any different from what you get automatically at that merchant. The site invites users to comment on the sales, though, and if you read the most recent comments you'll sometimes find that people put discount codes in the comments. 3. If the retailmenot site lists discount codes that have expired, I look at them and try to guess the pattern. If the store had a code for SALE07 in July, and a SALE09 in September, and it's now November, I'll try SALE11. You can try as many promo codes as you like, in the shopping carts, if you're patient. I'm not patient enough to do it for long, but I'll try five or six guesses, and I've sometimes gotten lucky. ![]() |
