no check on new version?

Hello,
i've Calibre 7.43 and I've noticed reading the forum that the version 7.44 is available.
Usually Calibre itself checks if there are new versions, but this time it hasn't happened even if this option is active..

The check is only done on startup, did you restart Calibre?

sure I did; I only use it when i need to add a new books or pass them to my reader..

After closing it and opening up again it worked.
anyhow it's strange...
