Content n00b question: how to get book on kindle

Ok, I some lrf's someone gave me. I figure plug the kindle into the computer and dump them in the documents folder and I am good to go. Nope.. I know this is a n00b question, but help me out here. The format is supposed to be supported on the kindle 3 so what is the deal? Thanks.

LRFs are not supported by the Kindle. You can download Calibre and use that to convert them into mobi format that the Kindle can read

not sure why you were under the impression that LRF's are supported by kindle, but as rcuadro says, they're not.

Thanks. I just googled it and saw it supported it and took it for scripture; then dumped it in the docs folder. I probably didn't read deep enough to get to the whole 'conversion' part. Thanks <hanging head in shame
