I shoulda waited..My story....

So after many weeks of back and forth, i finally slapped some $$$ down on a reader. Which did i get you ask? Of course i got the NC since everytime checked Amazons site it was always a 7-10 day wait. So i said ok, i got the NC. Big mistake, LCD is terrible for a ereader as i found out. With a green on black theme for reading at night i could actually see the LCD glow. PLus the fact that i don't care what anyone says staring at a LCD for long periods of time does wear your eyes out to a degree considering im in IT and do it all day. I can't go 15-20 minutes of reading the NC without my eyes getting strained. I can sit and read a paperback novel for hours on end. And of course i rooted my NC. Waste of time, as i realized. I want a reader not a poor mans Ipad. So it's time to order my K3...That's more story and i'm sticking to it!!!

Regards,
JoeW

Wait til you hold the K3 in your hands. It's about a third the weight of the NC. A delight to hold!

I have been reading on LCD screens for years. Until the first eink devices came out. What a relief that was!

With LCD, only unavailability of English books here in my non-English speaking country kept me using it. It took me weeks and months until I found setting that did not cause me acute discomfort while reading on a small, old, very obsolete notebook. It helps a lot if you are reading in a lit room. With LCD many people read in completely dark room, citing this as an advantage, but this is what caused the biggest strain. Ambient light level should be of comparable brightness as light from screen.
Hope this will help a bit until your K3 comes.

You might want to try to sell Nook on ebay to a country where nook color is unavailable.

It's on "The Bay" as we speak. Yeah, i wear glasses already and sit in front of upto 3 LCD's at work so i know what it's like. I think the eink will do the trick for my reading habits. I read for long periods of time on paper stuff. Plus i hate to say it, the NC's thinkness/weight is definitely noticeble from wheni used my father in-laws K3.

I hope that you find that the Kindle is worth the wait. I'm really enjoying mine! It's been one of the best purchases I've made in some time.

I checked out a Nook Color at B&N the other day and was surprised at how heavy it was compared to my Kindle). It sure looked pretty, though.

I think you're right!

I'm a happy K3 owner, but I'm so head-over-heels with the E-ink experience, that I'd probably be happy with just about any E-ink reader out there.

The Kindle does have its advantages, though.

This is why I chose the K3 about a month ago over the NC. The NC was too heavy and thick for an e-reader. I prefer paperbacks over hard covers because hard covers are just too bulky and heavy to read. The K3 suits my needs and the screen resolution is wonderful -- although, I gotta say, I wish it were in high definition color.

Triple amen. What I can't believe, after a month of ownership, is that I'm still excited when I go to bed, knowing my kindle is waiting for me . Don't remeber ever feeling that way about "real" books, even though I've always loved reading.
