Ordered mine - can't wait

I debated between the PRS-350 and the Kindle for the longest time. But now with the price drop, I decided to go ahead and buy the PRS 350 to read a bunch of PDF's I have. Can't wait for it to arrive!

Enjoy! I remember going through that same debate for weeks, trying to decide. I finally got the prs650 and love it!

Are these PDFs technical documents or novels/books? Take it from someone who is on his 5th reader... the former situation is no fun on a reader unless it is huge.

Neat hardware, Yello. Good choice. You might find the Sony library software sadly lacking, though (most Sony users do). Simply download the free Calibre library software, buy in ePub anywhere (or convert non-DRM ebooks from original format) and you're off to the races. Happy Sonying. Neil

Yello, you will be glad for the greater flexibility that Sony offers over the Kindle locked format.

Congratulations, what colour did you get? At this price, I'm very tempted to get one, even though I've decided to get the PRS-950 as well.

@Elecman: Technical documents. Mostly books with code samples and some pictures. I have tried and given up on converting these to ePub. I got the Sony for its PDF capabilities. I will see how it does in real life.
@DixieGal: TBD today (26th)
@Neil: I already have Calibre and don't intend to install Sony Software. Except maybe for firmware updates
@Latinandgreek: I could not carry a pink reader without my daughters pointing and laughing. So I got me the silver one.

PDF capability was impressive when compared to the kindle and I think it's very doable in landscape mode on the 350. That being said, it obviously isn't perfect and PDFs that I've tried where the text is an image fail miserably, but that's typically very old book scans that don't have text recognition embedded.

I do agree, Sony's hardware/software is the best for PDFs. I just love Sony readers the most because its quality hardware, software is very good, pearl screens, OPENness, and all in all... the Sony bookstore isn't that bad either.

Congradulations! i'm excited for you! I really wanted a sony, but the kindle was closer to my budget. But now that the prices have dropped, I am going for the sony! pink! I just want to scribble & have a portable dictionary! this is perfect for me! Congradulations again! Let's have a party!!
P.S I returned the Literati.... though it was only $69, it was no where near what i wanted in an ereader.

Congratulations on your purchase, you will be extremely happy with the Sony Reader. I myself am in love with my PRS350, and can't say enough good things about it.

I got a Pandigital Novel for $60 and that got me thinking about the wonderful world of eReaders. Trying to make it work, I discovered Calibre, these forums, and several eBooks. Too bad PDN was no good so I returned it. But Sony does indeed work very well.
