Hello! I am a newbie!
Hello everyone:

I have always sworn to be a "feel the book in your hand" kinda girl. However, as a Pediatrician and a graduate student, I find the books and papers too much to carry, not to mention all that copying is so not nice to the environment. I have finally decided to get an ebook reader and have decided on the Kindle 3. I am very excited about it! I have been searching the net for info, and found this site. So far, everyone's opinions have been very helpful. Happy reading everyone!

Welcome to MR! I hope that you enjoy yourself here! Might I suggest that you consider a larger device, as you will likely need to read a lot of PDFs in your studies. For PDFs the Sony 950, Kindle DX or Pocketbook 902 / 903 are probably the best devices currently available.

I have been told that at some universities students no longer cary around large textbooks. They carry them all in electronic book format so instead of carrying around five and six huge textbooks, as I did when I was an undergraduate, they carry one electronic reader which has all the text on it.
