Kobo Wifi Drivers
Hi Mobile Read Members,
I was wondering if anyone had the installation Drivers for a wifi Kobo, the issue is the Kobo is not being able to sync due to one of the 3 drivers that download whenever you connect the Kobo to computer allowing it to mount. The one that is missing or being blocked is Generic volume E: driver |

We've finally troubleshooted the issue
it was narrowed down to a corrupt registary file on the computer's Windows 7 that was preventing the Kobo from mounting correctly or be detected correctly. Only solution would be a full system reformat and install of Windows 7 but would like to know if there is anyway to fix a corrupt windows file without rewriting the coding or reformating? |

depends on if it's the main registry file, or the user hive that's corrupt.. you could always try creating a new profile and see if that helps.

Lots of options to try before a full re-install but results depend very much on the actual cause. First thing would be to try a system restore from a restore point dated before the problem started. You can also do a windows repair install. If it is only a registry entry issue then you may be able to fix this manually or there are some registry fixing tools out there (be careful with them).

Do you know which file in the registry is borked? If so, you can often search on "replace xxxxx" and see a solution for that particular file.

Try running a basic registry cleaner or system solution like CCleaner?
Keep regular backups of the registry (always a good idea). (If it is a specific registry key that now has an incorrect value you should be able to replace it with a correct value using regedit.exe or any of a number of other registry editors.) Last edited by Anthem; 01-27-2011 at 09:30 AM. |
