Should I get the Kobo?
Hi all, I am new to ereaders in general. I have about 600 books in my Calibre system. I ignorantly bought a "Lookbook" from Walmart yesterday and charged it, plugged it in via USB cable and Windows says it doesn't install properly.
I am looking for something simple which I can copy books to and from my PCs. No wifi or online purchasing needed. Will this $129 Kobo allow me to get started reading books in various fornats I have in Calibre? |

Kobo is a very good reader if all you're looking for is something to read books on.

Ah, if you have "various formats" in Calibre the best thing for you would be a jet book. The reason is that the Jet Book can take just about anything that you can possibly throw at it.

What formats are the books you have on Calibre and are they DRM protected?
If your books are non-drmed then it doesn't matter what format they are, you can convert them to match the format of whatever e-reader you buy. If your books are DRMed then: If you have a ton of EPubs, the Sony, Nook, or Kobo would work for you. The only 6 inch reader among those without wireless is the Sony. The Nook and Kobo are pretty comprably (sp) priced. The Sony 350 does not have wireless and is a 5 inch screen and is comprably priced with the Kobo and Nook. If your books are in Mobi then a K3 will be able to read what you have without having to convert. |
