After calibre update having some issues with errors

I've been using calibre for awhile with no real issues but since the last 2 updates every time I try to open the program up I get an error message about corrupt files "your calibre database seems to be corrupted. Do you want calibre to try and repair it automatically? If you say No, a new empty calibre library will be created." When I say yes, it says "the database repair failed. Starting with a new empty library." Then I get error that says "Bad database location u'C:\\(the location I renamed). calibre will now quit."
If I say no, it asks me to create a new location for the files but whatever I call it I get another error that says same as above, "bad database......calibre will now quit." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, still get same errors. Not exactly sure what to do next. I used the program earlier today and it was fine.
This is the second time it's happened in the past 2 days. First it works fine, after I convert a few books, close the program then reopen it I get these errors. Anyone have any ideas???

Ensure you are using 0.7.40 or 0.7.38. Do *not* use 0.7.39.

If you are not using 0.7.39, then we need more information. Please start calibre in debug mode. In a command box, type
calibre-debug -g
then copy and post the information printed.

I'm getting an error when I type the command "calibre-debug-g is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" I'm using 0.7.40 but I did have the 0.7.39 and that's when this started.

Apart from needing to close Calibre down before starting the debug, of course, you also need to mind the spaces. You should type
Code:
calibre-debug -g
(notice the space between "debug" and "-g").

I've uninstalled calibre and I'm going to try to install again. Now my issue is I can't delete the calibre library. I keep getting an error message that says I "don't have permission to perform these actions". I've been trying to find out how to change the permissions but when I click allow it's still giving me the same error. I'm sure if I can possibly delete these old libraries I would be OK, I think that's where the issue is but I can't delete the folder.

Your initial error might possibly be connected to the permission issues you're seeing now. Ordinarily, the Calibre library should have full access permissions for the user who initially created the library, I believe. Is that the case for you? What OS are you running?

I'm running Windows 7 and I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the permissions, I've tried everything to change the permissions, allow everything, etc, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. I sure it's something fairly simple that I need to do but just can't seem to figure it out. I've gone thru all the change permission info on the windows 7 help site and it's still saying I don't have permission. I just thought if maybe someone else had the same issue they could talk me thru it.

By the way, this is the only folder/file I'm having a permission error that I know of so that's why at first I thought it was an issue with Calibre but now I'm wondering....

I can't help you further with that issue, because I don't know Win7. However, can you tell me if the account you're currently logged in as is the same account you used to create the Calibre library in the first place?
Also, I just thought that maybe logging in as Administrator may possibly help you setting the permissions, if your account doesn't have admin privileges in the first place.

You might need to sign in as an admin to change the permissions. This is certain if you are not the folder's owner.

I am the folder's owner, I'm the administrator. I created the folder originally. If anyone else has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. Thanks to those that have tried!!
