Jetbook Pro/Jetbook Lite Comparison

I've been talking up my Jetbook to my daughter so much, she is thinking of one for her husband. She is a trueblue Kindleite, but he would like something smaller and more sturdy. As much as I love my other 'toys" I use Jebook as my daily reader and am never without it. It lives in it's case in my handbag or naked under a stack of papers in my office . I would like some feedback on the differences between Lite and Pro and why Lite users chose the Lite.
I personally use the audio player alot and when I purchased my Jetbook there was no Lite available. I've always tried to avoid being tied to buying batteries so am a little surprised at the popularity, but again, that's just my preferenece.
Ectaco and their support team have been wondeful to me, so I feel quite secure in recommending Jetbook over the small Sony or Libre. I just want to hear about the differences in firmware /hardware before she buys. Thanks

There are posters that own both jetBooks, so they could provide a better comparision,
than I can. Some of the features are dependent upon which firmware is installed on the
device. I can speak to the JBL with the 0.16e firmware.

The jetBook Lite (JBL) has a number of unique features, the AA Batteries being the most
obvious. The JBL supports a very wide range of ebook file formats, including the Palm
Document/eReader .pdb format that I am told the regular jetBook does not support.

The JBL also supports the Secure eReader DRM as well as the Adobe ADE and B&N DRMs,
again I am told that the regular jetBook does not support the eReader DRM.

Using an external battery charging process lets you simply replace the batteries with
a set that you have charged, when the reader's batteries are drained/low and not have
to wait for hours while an internal battery gets charged. A modern set of rechargeable
AA batteries will also last a little longer, per charge, than the internal battery. A set of
4ea rechargeable NiMH can be had for <$10 While the Li-ion battery for the regular
jetbook, would be around $40. All rechargeable batteries wear out over time and will take
less of a charge as they grow old.

The JBL costs less, but some of us find it more in line with our needs than the more
expensive regular jetBook. I have a much better MP3 Player and would not want one
on my ebook reading device.

Luck;
Ken

The jetBook is presumably about to be replaced by the jetBook+ (Hands on video of Jetbook+, jetBook+ is after 3 minutes). Since the jetBook Lite isn't in the 2011 Catalog, it might also be replaced by the jetBook+ although its replaceable batteries are a strong selling point.

Who is the "he" you speak of?

If you are referencing my post above, you might learn to read a little more
carefully, or perhaps with a little less imagination.

I was referencing my original post of the thread. The Jetbook is for my son-in-law.

"I've been talking up my Jetbook to my daughter so much, she is thinking of one for her husband. She is a trueblue Kindleite, but he would like something smaller and more sturdy."

Pehaps YOU should learn to read a bit more carefully and certainly post more politely.

"I" and "YOU" in this thread are specific enough that it takes no guesswork to establish
who is being referred to. I took your "followup" to be an inaccurate summation of my
reply to your original post. It certainly does make more sense with the "He" being the
one looking for an ereader.
