disconnecting Sony PRS-650 from Calibre

I have recently started using Calibre for syncing my ebooks onto my sony PRS-650. I have noticed that when I go to eject my reader from calibre, nothing seems to happen. My reader is still connected, and it tells me not to disconnect. the only way it seems that I can eject the device is by going into the sony software and ejecting it from there. The sony software opens automaticly when I plug in the device.

Is there a way that I will be able to eject the device from calibre without having to resort back to the sony software?

Please let me know if you have any thoughts

Thanks

Are you sure Calibre is not trying to run a job?

There have been a few times I've tried to eject my Sony and not have it work, only to realize there was a job running by looking down at the bottom of the screen and seeing the little circle running like crazy.

I just didn't realize it was doing something in the background.

I don't own a Sony, but I remember reading that you shouldn't use the Sony software and Calibre simultaneously on the same device. If you want to use both, use one after the other.

Also, I've gone into the main directory, found what Letter drive the Sony is, and if you right click on it you can eject it from there.

Make sure that the Reader Library does not open automatically when you connect your reader to the computer. This is done in the RL under "edit" and then "preferences" uncheck the first possibility.

Calibre is able to recognize your Sony and to disconnect it, when told. Never disconnect it as long as it shows at the head of the Calibre window.

Yes, I had the same problem until I disabled the "auto-start" on the Sony software. Now it ejects in Calibre easily and quickly.

great thanks. I disabled the auto open in reader and it works fine now. Only thing though is ony the reader device itself it no longer displays the "do not disconnect" when it is connected to calibre, as it did when it was connected through sony software. Everything seems to work fine though. will this cause any problems?

As long as you keep ejecting it from within calibre and waiting for it to be removed from calibre's view you should be fine.

No, just make sure you eject it using the eject reader button in Calibre!
