sort by last modified

I often read & tidy more than one book at a time, & keeping those (unconnected) titles at the top of calibre catalogue is baffling me. can I add a date-last modified column somehow & sort on that.

I could invent an in-progress user column but that is an inelegant fudge, requiring manual updates.

thanks - that thread offers only manual solutions. I guess I will use my custom " read " column and add another letter to my Y/N codes - maybe R for reading - then sort on that
