Kindle Shipping Delay

I'm wanting to order a K3. Amazon says 7-10 days for shipping. Depleted stock?

That's an improvement over 7-10 days. Is the delay because Amazon is updating the firmware?

I ordered a 3G graphite, if that makes a difference. What's in the new firmware? I don't own a Kindle myself - this is a gift.

I think the firmware was updated to allow book lending.

There wasn't any firmware updates to enable book lending.

Amazon had a lot of backorders for Kindles over the Christmas period so I expect the delays to be due to this and the associated holiday period delays for business.

I'm not complaining, just curious about the delay. Before New Years they were being shipped out next day in USA.

Next day? Darn, I new I was living in the wrong country ^^

I don't know how it is in the US, but over here, every thing slows down around New Year, so that may be it.

I'm in Canada. Ordered mine on Dec 15th. They said it would be shipped anytime before the 24th of Jan. I sent to an email to ask why, (because it only took me 2 days to get my cover) and they said they are on back-order and gave me a $10 credit on anything I purchase. Looks like people in the U.S don't have this problem.

Remember that there are actually two versions of the Kindle 3G+WiFi. One with an AT&T SIM and one with a Vodafone SIM. The one you get depends on the country you're ordering from as the coverage and roaming costs to Amazon differ.

US and Canada should both have the AT&T Kindle however so I guess they're just prioritising US orders?

Your right! I hadn't even thought of that. And yes i think there may be priority. I'm hoping it comes soon though.

The only one that does NOT have a shipping delay is the White 3G version.

I live in Thailand and was going to order the Kindle 3 international, but there was a 7-9 week delay before shipping. I decided to order the US Kindle 3 with WIFI. Received it in 10 days and works great.
