The 5" screen on my phone is quite good for reading -- even newspapers work quite well with Newspaper Direct. I still prefer the E-Ink screen for reading books, but the convenience of reading on a device I always have with me is undeniable. And my reader has no WiFi -- downloading my newspaper in the morning takes too long.

I have an iTouch and 3.5" is too small to read anything but short articles on. Constant scrolling up/down, left/right is a pain in the neck.

I have an iPhone and I hate reading books on it. Any position I find suitable for reading is uncomfortable after a few minutes and the battery life is not that long.

Same here. It is convenient for those times when I am waiting for my wife or daughter (both sometimes) trying on clothes or doing other shopping tasks. Handy also whilst waiting for an appointment.

Backlit LCD really affects my eyes after a even a short while reading.

I used to read on my iPhone using Stanza but I got fed up with reading for a few seconds and then having to turn the page, the screen just isn't big enough for me. That is what pushed me to buy an Android tablet and that is what I use now to read my eBooks.

Having a HTC Desire HD with a 4.3 inch screen makes for a fairly comfortable reading experience while I'm out-and-about or in work as I'm not in a position where I'm likely to be reading for a long period.

If I'm going to be reading for a long session I wouldn't consider the handset, I'd use either my Sony 600 or my tablet PC. I'd only use the handset for a long session if I'm somewhere without either of the other two devices and am stuck there for some time.

Saying that, I can quite comfortably read on the Desire HD for long periods without experiencing any difficulty. Can't say the same for my previous phone which was a Nokia X6 and its screen was 3.2 inchs, that was a bit small for reading for too long.

I used to read on my HTC before getting a Sony ereader. The screen was too small and I'd get cramps at the base of my thumb because of all the button pressing to turn pages. I much prefer the Sony.

Yes, it's my sole all-in-one mobile device, a true personal computer as I soon found out. Not only do I read as I also browse the web and write like this.

My stated goal of 100 ebooks in 2011 is happening on it too, mostly in those hours wasted in bus from home to work and vice-versa...

I don't have a smartphone, but I still read on my 3.4" PDA. Not planning on stopping either.

Though the screen is nice, it hurt my eyes when I try to read on it.

I have a sony 600 touch screen but i do not use it any more. I will give it to a friend. I am using the iPod 4. Stanza, iBook and Kindle, plus GoodReader. I am very satisfied with it. I keep it in my trousers' pocket. I read both ebooks that i buy, that i produce my self, usually epub. I can read pdf without many technical figures or formulas. No comics, but those I could not read on the Sony either.
I have excellent eyes (no glasses).

My answer isn't there: I used to read a lot on my smartphone, but now I've ordered an e-Reader.

Yes, I do. I love the Kindle because it syncs across so many devices. When I don't have my Kindle on me and am waiting at the bank, grocery store, post office, etc., I pull out my phone and start reading on my Droid.
