Can KDG or DX show ebook in 2 columns?

hi everybody... i have k3wifi. one of my friends wants to buy KDG or DX. but he liked k3 screen size... he says "it's easy and faster to read on small screen." but he has a lot of A4 size academic pdfs (with tables, pictures, formulas etc.). with that academic pdfs I recommend him to buy KDG or second hand DX.

and he asked me if the KDG can show the ebooks into columns or not?... if it can, he would have chance to read pdf in real size and have chance to read ebooks in columns like k3 small screen.

or if it doesn't can it be done as a kindle hack? thanks a lot for your further helps... good days...

come on dudes there must be a solution!.. while searching net i found sony prs 950 have two column view option in landscape mode. but it's pdf support is not so well as i can see trough the reviews. if KDG3 have two column view option that would be awesome.

and two Qs more: is KDG3 highlight the pdfs? is KDG3's search option works on pdfs?

DXG won't split up a pdf into two columns with the normal firmware. pan and zoom- yes, but it's hardly a substitute.
you can install Duoken firmware though to rectify this. this makes PDF's much better period on the DXG.

i do believe K3 can both search and highlight pdf's but being I don't actually have one I'm not entirely sure.

I had a K2 and loved it except for pdf handling so I bought a DXG to get the larger screen. The larger screen allows one to read a full page of a pdf file without resorting to panning and zooming, even two column layouts. Some documents have diagrams with tiny text that is a little too small to read in portrait orientation. I find that simply rotating to landscape (which DX/DXG can do automatically) zooms the file to fit the width of the screen and that has always been sufficient to read any text in a diagram on every pdf I have looked at so far.

In landscape mode the entire page is not shown of course, so the page forward/back buttons function to show the rest of the page. The step is "blocky" so you night end up splitting a diagram that way, in which case you will have to resort to pan and zoom to display the full diagram on a single view.

Duokan has some features that improve pdf viewing. It is easy to install and set-up- just follow the instructions on many of the web pages that explain the process.

Duokan or not, the larger screen of the DX/DXG is definitely better for viewing pdfs than the smaller screens.

My brother has the Sony daily edition with touch screen. While it seems to handle pdfs well, I did not like the glossy touch screen and low contrast of the display. The e-ink pearl display without a touch screen overlay is absolutely the best e-ink display. If you see it side-by-side with other e-ink displays and especially with touch screens you'll know exactly what I mean.
