Managing my library
Maybe someone can help me out. I am trying to fix my library and adding books. I would like to restrict books to a specific date (adding date), so I could work on those books. I just don't know how to. How to formulate a search? Or is it even possible?
Of course I can sort by date, but then I cannot work efficiently (like authors are mixed and so on). Another solution is to add a tag to books on that date, which I am doing at the moment. Would like to have some other solution. TIA |

Thanks I apparently forgot to use ><.
I guess I'll have to study calibre manual more closely. Sorry for asking a question which was explained in manual. Apparently exam session fried my brain ![]() |

I have another question. This time I searched in the manual, but didn't find
![]() Then adding books sometimes (when using read metadata from file) a lot of metadata gets filled in: comments, tags, author, title. This can happen even if I am adding just one pdf file, no opf files in sight. Can I save to disk a book with metadata, but without opf file? I want to have one nice file but without loosing all my work on metadata. I tried to save a book to disk, delete it from library and to add it again (reading metadata), but only author, title gets filled in. |

Why are you deleting the book form the library when you save to disk?

I am not sure I understand the question correctly. I don't delete books from library then I save to disk. I deleted a book from library just so I could test if metadata was saved to pdf file. It wasn't. And I would like it to save, without extra files (cover, opf).
I want to have a nice copy of my library in my preferable format (author folder/ebook file, without any cover, opf files) which would work as a back up copy for calibre (but would have metadata which could be read when adding books to calibre) |

Not all formats support updating metadata, that is one of the reasons why the opf files exist. So do not expect that for a PDF it will internally store all of your updated metadata that you have set in your Calibre library.
However if you just want the second part of your goal, to save to disk without covers or opf files, just go to Preferences->Save to disk and uncheck those options in there. |

Ok, then I guess I'll just make to copies. One for personal browsing when I do not need calibre and one for calibre just in case.
