HI! I'm a "newbie"...

both here and to ebooks as well, although I've been using references on my laptop for years.. My wife and I got a pair of Nooks a couple of months ago in an effort to reduce our book "footprint", as we've moved several times in the past 6-7 years, and books take a lot of space. We'll probably never reduce it completely...she has several authors that she collects in hardcover, and it doesn't (as yet) seem practical for my math and computer books, mainly due to graphics and equations, etc.

The Nook didn't have everything I wanted in a reader, but it had a lot of it. I also considered the Kindle, esp.the Kindle 3, but did not want to get "married" to Amazon. It was the epub format that sold me on the Nook.

Thanks, everyone for the warm welcome. I considered the Sony as well, Grace, but decided on the Nook, mainly because I'm a long-time BN customer. Ron, there is definitely a lot available. I think you could spend the rest of your life just reading what is available free, if you were so inclined. At leas an old guy like me could. Neil, I've got lousy vision and that's a small picture, but is that a kilt I see? desertblues, I haven't really explored the site yet, but I will. I see you're in the Netherlands. My two children were born there, back in 1989 and 1991.

Thanks again to all for the welcome.

Jim
