Question Plz Help... After converting PDF to MOBI - ToC missing on Kindle

Hello friends,
I'm new to this forum..
Recently i have bought Amazon kindle Paperwhite for reading.

My Problem is, when i convert my pdf files into mobi / azw format to read on my kindle, ToC (Table of contents) are missing..
Its really hard to turn each n every page to reach my desired chapter / page number..
I have lots of pdfs to read. After converting them into Mobi format (either through online/ calibre software) i'm not able to locate ToC of the eBook on my kindle Go to menu..

Kindly show me a way to overcome this hurdle..

Thanks.

Hi rsrayala, welcome to MobileRead!

If you scroll down the forum you will find a subsection E-Book Formats with a subsection Kindle Formats and a subsection for the calibre software.
Browse these fora, especially some of the posts concerning pdf-conversation, for instance this one:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=239092
Don't have any illusions, you will have to do some manual changes to get a working table of content.

What software are you using to do the conversion?

I don't know of any way to convert direct from PDF to mobi and include a TOC. I only read text PDFs and for those I convert first to rich text font, then edit out the erroneous header and trailers and anything else I don't need, then convert from RTF to mobi.

If you wanted to add a TOC you could save the RTF as a Word doc then add in the TOC manually for each chapter, but it's time consuming and I have no idea how converting a PDF with tables would work with RTF. You might get more luck posting in the PDF forum.

Sticky: Read this before Posting PDF Questions

It is impossible, or at least, highly unlikely -- if it didn't work already it almost definitely will not be fixable. You will have to edit the book yourself to add one in.
