Hi

Hi everyone, I'm new here and still navigating the site. I'm mostly in search of that great e-book management system. I got my Kindle just in time for Christmas but I want to load books into it in an organized manner, and frankly Kindle's ebook management isn't much to speak of. If anyone can share how they manage their ebooks, I'd love to hear them

Cheers,
Sonia

Hi Sonia and welcome to MobileRead. The eBook management service you are referring to is Calibre and is available here http://calibre-ebook.com/

Hi and welcome to Mobileread, Sonia. For books I want to read in the future I use Librarything, here I can also keep track of what I've read and when. I also use Amazon wish lists to save what I want to read in the future.

I don't really have an e-book management system for books I already own, just folders on my computer.

Hello everyone! Thank you for the warm welcome! I have been using Calibre but I was hoping I could find the iTunes for Kindle (or something like that, which would allow me to organize on the PC and just sync it with the Kindle). I haven't tried LibraryThing yet but I will look into it! I have also just downloaded Adrian Colegate's Kindle Collection Manager but I have yet to use it

I have also downloaded the latest software update from Amazon, and I'm not sure but I think it lets me organize my books by Most Recent, Title, Author and Collections (unless that feature has always been there but I just haven't noticed until last night).

Good to have your company, Sonia. Calibre is excellent, but do keep in mind that Kindle exclusively uses Amazon's Mobi digital format and that if you buy an ebook in any other format (ePub has become pretty well standard) or borrow one from a lending library it's often going to be locked by DRM software and you won't be able to convert it to Mobi using Calibre or anything else. Good luck and best wishes. Neil
