Softrooting Help

Hello, new NOOK owner here.

I've got a serial number nook above 1003 and firmware 1.4.1, so I have to go the difficult route for softrooting. I'm doing it via the no router method, and I'm having trouble. After connecting to my hotspot, my NOOK won't try to download an update. I've tried unregistering, reregistering, turning the nook on and off, and using the check for new B&N content multiple times each. I ran into this problem when originally upgrading to the 1.5 firmware; I had to sideload the update as it just wouldn't update itself. Anything I can do or am I stuck with a nonrooted nook?

I figured I'd mention that my issue hasn't resolved, so if anyone had any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I'll bump it for you. I just rooted my nook today, using the no router method. While it was time consuming, it has definitely paid off.

When you try to get it to download the update, do you get that sample book blink to show up?
