Formatting SD card.
Hi, I have a quick question. What file system do I format an SD card to in order to put ePub files on and read with the kobo wifi?
I have a MacBook Pro. My guess is Fat32 so that is what I have done for now. I plan on buying a kobo wifi tomorrow at Walmart. It is $149, plus I get 10% off, and I have $55 gift card so it will only cost me about $95 after tax. If this weren't the case I would probably be more interested in the Sony PRS 350. Anyways, if anyone can confirm which file format is required, I'd like to preload an SD card so that I can make use of the Kobo on my busride home from work. Does it come precharged? If not I have a USB charger for my iPhone anyways. |

I think it is not a matter with kobo. Quote:
recharge, just charge fully. You will get usb cable. Connect to usb adapter on your computer or get some cheap wall charger with no less than 1A. |

Hey, thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is because the SD card was previously used in a Canon camera and I'm not sure what format type it would have been set to. So the question is what is 'vanilla plain' since they aren't brand new sd cards.
I just wasn't sure if the kobo would read Fat, or NTFS (or even MacOS Extended Journaled for that matter). The charging question was more out of curiosity, whether it would be charged enough to use on my way home from buying it ![]() |

on bsd code and I assume it has newfs app. That command takes some flags in the format newfs_msdos. You could read manual for newfs on the computer, if it has it. Just be sure what is the name of sd card as device. It should show up in dmesg at the tail. Like /dev/da1s1 or alike. Quote:
harm the new device. It has introduce settings you have to work out. Be patient! Edit: maybe mac takes command mkfs with -t flag? Last edited by zoran; 12-30-2010 at 01:15 AM. |
