Lend and Borrow Kindle Books For Free Here! KindleMore.com
Hello! As many of you may know, Amazon just came out today with the revolutionary new ability to lend and borrow books on the Kindle.
There is, unfortunately, one downside to all this good news - how do you exactly find books that you want to borrow? To address that exact question, I've made a forum dedicated to lending and borrowing Kindle books. Users can post books that they want to lend, and other users can borrow those books or request new books that they want to see made available. It's obviously brand-new, so there are only a few selections currently available. Please join the community and help us grow, so that one day every Kindle reader might be able to read every Kindle book for free, just like they might in a library - only a million times better. Help us spread this cause! Visit KindleMore.com today! Sign up for an account, read the rules, and start borrowing and reading today! The first ten users to join the site and post a book and make ten general posts will gain exclusive VIP status, which will entitle you to priority book borrowing. Cheers, I |

Thank you for this initiative. It looks very interesting.
One minor point: In the message headings, why do the book title, author, user name, etc. have to be in square brackets? It makes the thread's subject very hard to read. |

@Mike L - Really? It was an arbitrary decision on my part, I figured it would actually make it easier to read and more importantly search, as each item is distinguished from one another (can't confuse the book title with the author, for example). Any suggestions on an alternative?
@HarryT - You have a definite point there, but for the sole fact of being the Kindle, which commands a fair bit more market share than the Nook, I'd say this move has a good chance of being revolutionary in altering the fundamental way we approach purchasing and reading eBooks. It also signals the first real consensus shift towards adopting the concept pioneered by Barnes and Noble - it wouldn't be surprising at this point if everyone adopted the loaning strategy in an effort to be competitive. If that were to be the case, then sites like KindleMore.com for instance would be able to radically alter the way people could obtain commercial books - they could now obtain a very significant portion of them for free. |

If I was doing this, I would omit the delimiters completely. Just let 'em search for any string. If they enter Mark Twain, it would find books by Mark Twain along with biographies with that name in the title. But don't worry about it. It was only a very minor criticism, and it's quite likely that most people will be happy with it the way it is. |

Mike and Harry, are they collecting email addresses, or does it seem to be legitimate ad supported?

There are no ads yet, as I literally just made the forum and have spent all night (more like morning now) setting up the site, but if I need to eventually put up ads to support the site, that's how I'll be doing it. And though you'll have to take my word for it, trust me, I don't want your email addresses.
The site is a mutual benefit to everyone involved, in the same way Wikipedia is. I like reading books on my Kindle too - I would love it if there was a network where everyone could lend and borrow books to each other - wouldn't you? |

It sounds too good to be true, so surely you understand my skepticism. However, good luck and best wishes for a million hits today.

It's legitimate as far as I can tell. Am I the only one who seems to be overly excited by loaning books?

If go to a book that you have bought, there will be an icon at the top of the top of the page that says Loan this book (or something to that affect). By clicking the icon you are able to enter the email address you wish the book to be delivered to. The person reciving the book will then have to accept the loan and they may then download it. From what I understand the book will automatically be returned to your kindle 14 days after the loan is accepted.
If there is no loan icon at the top page of a book you have bought, then it is unable to be loaned out. The icon will be under the date you ordered the book. |

Only in US
Sadly, it looks as if this isn't available to us UK Kindle owners yet
![]() Also, is it true that you can only lend a book once? This part of Amazon's statement: "Each eligible book can be lent once for a period of 14 days" seems a bit ambiguous to me. Does it mean it can only be lent to one person at a time or only one person ever? By the way, this is my first post but I've been lurking since I got my Kindle a couple of weeks ago. I've learned loads. Thanks everyone ![]() |

One person at time. It would be like owning a hard copy of the book, you would not be able to loan that book to three different people at the same time being that there is only one hard copy.
