Christmas Nook
Hello out there! I just joined the forum, and have a Nook question.

I got a Nook as a Christmas gift from my husband and children, and I peeked! I charged it up and registered it and got some free books, and took it to the doctor's office where I spent a very un-stressed hour reading while I waited. The Nook is now wrapped and under the tree in it's correct place (darn it!) but in the mean time, I would like to find out more about the 'borrowing books from the library' feature. Our local library does not have ebook capabilities.

My question is: Are there libraries that you can join even if you don't live there?

Someone on the forums mentioned that the Philadelphia library does non-resident lending, but I cannot be sure.
I had a similar experience. My daughters ordered me a Kindle with a convoluted plan to have it delivered to a friend and through some synchronicities it landed on my doorstep. I have been blatantly enjoying it, but will wrap up and put under the tree like a good little girl, lol.

Hya Happy. Good to have your company. Yep, you can join the Philadelphia Free Library. don't get the title wrong, though; it's not 'free', but 'liberal'. There's a small annual registration fee. Of course, truly free classic and Public Doman books are available from the Mobile Read library here and many other sites. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

I understand your delight and impatience. I got my kindle half-paid as a christmas present. I thought I had to wait for my sister who paid half of the price to come home from overseas before I could get it but she sent it on and so I've enjoyed my christmas present a week early.
