Boot Time
A friend of mine is concerned about how fast he can get to his ebooks, How long does it take when you turn the ereader on before you can start reading? My Libra's boot time is 4 seconds, can anyone beat that? The recycle time (when I hit reset its the amount of time it takes for the reader to reset itself) 3 minutes.

My old Cybook Gen3 boots in about 30 seconds.
A newer Gen3 supports a "sleep mode", from which it can wake up in 1-2 seconds. |

The Kindle 3 is about 2 seconds. Not a "boot time" of course; that's a "wake-up" time. Any device which has a "sleep mode" should have a wake time of the order of a few seconds.

Very seldom turn mine off. As Harry said, about 2 seconds from sleep to reading on a Kindle DX.

On the Kindle readers, there isn't much reason to turn them completely off since the eInk technology screen draws no power when in 'sleep' mode. Whether you blank the screen or allow it to lapse into sleep mode, startup is 1-2 seconds on the K3.
