What kind of Memory Card?

I want to get a 32 GB memory card to go with my new IQ, but I am confused on which kind to get. I see alot of people mentioning something about a class 6 card but I don't see anything on the product page that specifies that.

What are the difference between classes, such as class 4, class 6, class 10? Would any of these be compatible?

The higher the class rating, the faster the card is. I recently got a fairly decent price on a 16gb class 10 sdhc card at newegg.com the other day.

Ohh I love NewEgg! I will go check them out. Do you think 16 GB would be large enough to get started? I have a habit of buying more memory than I would ever use haha

Unless you're seriously hung up on watching videos, 8 GB's is more than enough, methinks. The mediaplayer capacities of a cheap Android tablet can't be stellar, so I wouldn't prioritize it to watch videos and play music if I were you.

Got nothing against newegg, I'm always interested in getting the lowest price regardless of the estore (after all they are just the middle man and don't count). Amazon beats newegg's price by aprpoximatly $15. When buying from electronic stores always visit nextag and mysimon to get the best price.

I don't plan on watching movies or listening to music on this thing at all, I just want to make sure I have enough space to upload apps and stuff. So maybe I will stick with the 8 GB then. If I don't plan on doing videos and music, do I really need a class 6? I have a 4GB memory card already for my camera and 2 2GB ones, would those be sufficient enough?

I am a huge Amazon shopper and a Prime member, so I always shop Amazon too. I did notice that Amazon seems to be cheaper than NewEgg right now when it comes to memory cards, so i will probably go that route!

An Android app which is considered unacceptably big takes 20 MB. Believe me, you won't fill your card with apps only.

As for size of the card, my pals who sell IT hardware tell me people as a general rule start with the 8gb card and go up or down based on what they need but for most things that people do 8gb will be plenty. Now the problem here is that you said you will upload apps, that's where you might run into troubble. Try looking at the file sizes of the apps and seeing how much space all of the apps that you have would use up. Apps can be a problem, don't have to be.

I recommend that you buy at least an 8gb and consider the 16gb if you find that the space demands of the apps that you intend to upload requires the 16gb.

My own camera at home has a 32gb compact flash card and that is more photos then I could ever possibly take in one sitting. I think the 8gb is all that I need in the camera.

1gb is approximatly 100 books, so 8gb is approximatly 800 books. Trouble is that this does not take into account your apps.

If what you're reading are technical PDFs, yes. Those are larger. Most novels are around 1 MB in size (give or take) so 1 GB is much closer to 1000 novels than 100.

As an example, I just checked my Calibre library and it's got 1543 ePub novels in it. Those files total around 1.2 GB.

Thanks for the specifics everyone! Maybe I will play around with my 4GB card and get an idea if I will need extra. Once I upload an app onto my PocketBook, will I be able to delete the app off the card? Or will I always have to keep the card in my PocketBook (total newb question, sorry!)

I believe the largest single book in my collection is the VLSI handbook, weighing in at 160MB, followed by a pair of others from the same series at about 100MB. The largest scanned book in there is 31MB in DjVu format. I expect I'll want to get a memory card pretty quickly.
