Can this read Cryllic?

First of all I wana say that I'm glad I found this forum, I haven't been able to find a place to get so much info on e-readers anywhere.

I just want to know if the Sony 650 supports Cryllic, that is to said I want to be able to read Japanese on it. I figure that if I'm learning it, the touch screen would be great to practice in the books.

I heard the 350 supports it, and I read another thread about someone putting custom fonts on a 700. I'm just not sure so I'm hoping someone can enlighten me.

PS: I have not bought it yet, I also need a recommendation on a good, relatively cheap case for it.

Cyrillic is the script used to write Russian and some other Slavic languages (named in honour of Saint Cyril, whose followers invented it). It looks like this:

I believe there is an alternative Russian firmware you can flash to the 650 which would enable it to support Cyrillic script. Though I'm not sure why you would need this to learn Japanese... Unless you are a Russian speaker and would prefer to read a Japanese textbook in Russian.

You can have cyrillic in built-in fonts (they cover LRF/txt/RTF books, but not EPUB) either using borodas or amutin's custom firmwares.

Or you can always embedd fonts in EPUB or LRF or PDF.

650 and 350 use essentially the same firmware with very minor differences. So, whatever 350 can do, the 650 can do as well. If you are Japanese, you should buy the Japanese version of the x50 (sold in Japan only). Actually, it supports Cyrillic (at least the Russian subset of it) natively as well, so you won't need to install any special firmware.
