Angry New Kobo reader - Alberta

Hello from the icy wilds of East Central Alberta. I live about 100 miles from the nearest Kobo dealer, so I bought one from Borders on the 'Net. It worked fine at first. Then when I plugged it in for its first recharge I got this message about updating it. I did that and all seemed to go well. That is until I tried to read a book. After the upgrade I can now read a couple of pages, more or less, and then I will find that I'm suddenly back one or two pages. I can flip ahead to where I had last read and then continue, for another two or three pages and then I find that I'm suddenly back two or three pages. These repeats can happen in the middle of a page, the end of a page or the end of a chapter. On very short chapters the whole chapter will sometimes repeat. It's driving me up the wall.

Good to have your company, Doral. Yep for experienced user feedback, it's as well to repeat your question in the Kobo-dedicated forums here. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

Hi and welcome doral!
I'm a newbie here myself and have had my own set of problems with Kobo. I'm in Australia, and mine was bought from a Borders store as well. Worked well until just after the 30 days money-back guarantee that borders offered and have had a grand-old time dealing with the Kobo un-helpdesk.
I sincerely hope you're able to find the answers you're looking for. I know how frustrating it can be to be so excited about this wonderful new product and technology only to have hassles early on. Would love to hear how you get on.

Thanks for the reply and heads up Neil. It looks like I need to learn how this forum works. I just posted my reply in the wrong place.

Actually, I'm a Saskatchewan RR fan. My wife roots for the Stamps.

Hi CaroB and Merry Christmas. My Kobo works fine on everything but the 100 preloaded books, so I'll probably just leave well enough alone. I've loaded a couple of pdf files and they seem to work right.
