I Broke my database

I'm the only one using this laptop so I blame me for braking Calibre.

I've had for a while undeletable entries with nothing in the folders but the new one is I cannot drag and drop files in to add anymore.

I get this error . . .

[calibre, version 7.24.0
ERROR: Errors while adding: Failed to add any books, click "Show details" for more information

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Failed to add the book: File name here
With error:
Traceback (most recent call last):

File "calibre\db\cache.py", line 2147, in create_book_entry

File "C:\t\t\apsw-42s16m2x\src\cursor.c", line 240, in resetcursor
apsw.CorruptError: CorruptError: database disk image is malformed]

I tried to recup from a backup but to nojoy

I stopped there to not brake it any further. I'm not afraid to work but this is way beyond my paygrade. I'm more like a hammer . . .

I believe you will be able to restore the library via Library Maintenance, but I would wait for the developers input on that log before doing anything

But maybe not back to the original state given that the OP tried to restore a backup that also was a fail.

. . . you can run calibre as Administrator, but doing so will cause some functionality, such as drag and drop to not work.

Yep maybe not restorable to the original state, given also that the OP had noticed undeletable entries before.

As for the drag and drop not working issue, I've experienced that a few times in the past but I can't remember what worked to solve it.

Try this...

In calibre with the defective library selected, in the toolbar, right click the icon that shows the name of the library and select Library maintenance. Then select Restore Database. That will go through the library and read all the information in the metdata.opf files and recreate the database.

I wonder if these reports are due to cloud syncing.
