				Video : New Output Format

Just had an idea, Wouldn't it be fun if calibre could convert a book to an .AVI (where each page would be a single frame) or perhaps .VOB (where each page would be single title) such that that one could read the book on his media center capable TV, pressing the "next frame"or "next title" on the remote control to turn pages. Has this ever been considered? |

why dont you just read it using the calibre viewer on your tv, plenty of people do that. The next page prev page keyboard shortcuts are configurable, so change them to whatever your remote generated.

Indeed, if the PC was attached to the TV. Alas in my case, it is a Blu Ray player with DLNA capabilities that is attached to the TV; The player is networked with the PC via wifi and it can play music, photo, and video files being served but not text or ebooks. |

Can you step through a directory full of images easily with your player? If so, perhaps try converting an ebook to PDF, then use a PDF utility to export each page as an image (I'm sure there must be one somewhere that will do that) and view them as a slideshow. You might want to fiddle with the 'page' size of the PDF to get the right text size etc. on a TV screen. Andrew |

Excellent suggestion andyh2000. The player can slideshow .jpgs from a directory (via CIFS) or from a media server (via DLNA). Thanks.

Sadly, even that won't work for the OP since he doesn't have his TV directly connected to the computer. | |
