Still uncertain if there will be any pre-orders in December it's all up to FCC to approve the device first:

Right. And in the blog he says if not shipping by Christmas then by New Year or CES a week and a half later - which, if it holds, is not too bad. About 6 months later than initially expected but not bad for a start up and for a product that, on paper at least, looks this promising.

I'll hold off getting one until a few review models have been seen in the wild and written about, but if it is 80% of what is expected it may be a very nice device.

Hm, you might be right there. On the other hand isn't this something pretty standard, signing a non disclosure agreement. I think it has more to do with the marketing/investor guys wanting to have control over the public release.

Yep, you're most likely right. On the other hand if I were them, I'd try to time it so those went out at the same time as the eval copies did and flood the market with, hopefully, positive reviews!

If they are talking about shipping in late December, early January, I'm hoping some will get reviewed and posted by mid December.

While they may be rarer then they are today non disclose agreements have been part of this industry for a long time and I've signed them with beta software.

It's very common on other sites to find an announcement of something along with the writer having permission to say that they can't release anything until some date has past.
