Post a screenshot of your desktop.

I love it when folks post screenshots of their desktops so I can check out all their cool Android apps, how they have everything organized, and all those dirty habits. Slick ideas are to be had.

So, review your desktop for any personally identifiable info, clean off all the porn, get a screenshot, and post it if you're willing.

Note: You can do a screenshot by pressing the big ol' "n" button at the bottom of the Nook Color, and then press the volume minus button at the same time. A little camera icon will appear in the lower left corner I believe, and if you're quick enough with the strokes, you won't even get the volume indicator in the screenshot. This images are then stored in the Screenshots directory on the internal Nook Color memory.

Hmmmm... mine is not rooted mainly because I know NOTHING about installing Android apps (normal cell phone here, not Android) and the instructions are geared towards those who know how to do all that. I see that you have extended your Home Screen to five instead of three. Very cool.

If someone can break it down for me as to just how one installs apps on a rooted NC then I'll be all over it.

Mine is still quite boring...

I don't have much going on and am still using stock wallpaper. But I'm getting there.

I like the post it note sticky. Yours isn't boring. There's no right or wrong look. The flexibility can be overwhelming quite frankly.

I knew nothing about rooting or Android apps either. I have a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. There are some similarities with regard to installing apps (what we call .cab files) and tweaking.

I'm not sure what you mean by breaking down. Installing apps (now) is as easy as seeing an app in the Android Market and selecting it for download. It installs automatically. There are manual ways to install apps but it's still simple. The rooting process requires more thought than installing apps.

The "sticky" is called ColorNote (free) and you can create stickies with alarms, etc.,. Once you've created some stickies then you can long press on your home screen, select widget, then ColorNotes, and then select the sticky you want to show up on your home screen. You can change their colors, too.

When you are done with the sticky you just click it until you can drag it to the trash can. You also have to go into the app itself to delete it. I like being able to put something "front and center" especially when it is a short term thing (such as calling someone back).

The weather app is WeatherBug Elite (not free).

I think I'm correct when I say that at any moment in time during the root, successful or not, there is a relatively painless procedure for taking your NC back to factory state. I suppose the only thing you could risk is whatever changes you have made to the device up until today. Additionally, I am not aware of how the B&N stored books, etc. might be affected.

I don't know a thing about android but I rooted my Nook (I don't have a NC) and a few of my friends Nooks. I also checked out the directions for rooting the NC at NookDevs and it was pretty basic. Maybe just read through the steps and see if it makes any sense to you. I think it might sound more intimidating than it is.

Very cool stuff guys. I have no reason to need a NC, but now I want one just so I can fiddle with it, lol.

Here's my screen. It's mostly games for my daughter so it's easy for her to get to them. otherwise she may accidentally do something that I won't be able to fix. She's done that before with other stuff of "daddy's"...
