Can personal documents be sent from a computer to my NOOK?

yes, but no .doc are allowed. You should convert them to pdf for exmaple first.

you can send any file to your nooks memory. you can only view these though on the nook:
* EPUB (including Non or Adobe DRM) * PDB * Graphics: JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP * Audio: MP3 |

I believe so. I haven't tried on a pdf yet, but I can make notes on the pdf's I convert to epub.
On an off topic note, I love your dog! Is he (?) an American Bulldog? |

Just Use Google Docs...
And then you can send *.doc files - you can view them either in Google Docs in your browser or via the Nook Color's Open Office viewer. In Google Docs you can edit (it's free).
