Sansa Fuze or Fuze+ for MP3 for audiobooks?

I hope I can post this here.

I'm getting the Aluratek for ebooks. So for audiobooks, I was recommended to go with Sansa. I was fine with the clip but most people say that it is so small. Hubby thinks I should move up to the Fuze. Should I get the 8G Fuze for $50 or the 4G Fuze+ for $40? The + has a screen size of 2.4". When I am not using it, I would give it to my 9yo to download videos or music.

Thanks

I would go with the Fuze + simply because it now accepts AAC, for futur music and if you have an iTunes account etc.

by the way the Sansa's are the best mp3's, I have a fuze and a clip+ these blow away my old iPods in sound quality.
just have to upgrade from the stock earbuds to something better. I use a pair of $29 Sony inner ear's and they sound great.

Doesn't the Aluratek include an mp3 player?

I really like the Sansa mp3 players too. I have an 8gb Clip+ and it is great for audio books.

Yes Catlady it has any MP3 player so yes mmread can use the Aluratek instead of the Sansa player. I have both and need to say that the Aluratek ahs an MP3 player but not as high a quality a player as the Sansa Fuze does.

I have a Clip+ and I don't think it's too small. In fact, it's small size and built-in clip means I take it everywhere I go. If I had a Fuze or similar sized device, I'd leave it home most of the time.

BTW, where are you getting a 4GB Fuze+ for $40? That's half-price and a fantastic deal.

Most public Library audiobooks are .wma format and not MP3. Since the Aluratek is coming from my parents, I figured I can "Santa" swing for a Sansa to play .wma and have my youngest have something since my 12yo is asking for an Itouch for Cmas. (I will never be able to use that Itouch).

The 4G Fuze+ red was $39.99 at Toys R Us yesterday during their 1 day sale. The 8G Fuze will be $49.99 on BF at Toys R Us. I bought online since my local TRU stores did not have any in stock.

I was price shopping online for my son's DS games when I was at the TRU site. The banner said 1 day Sansa special and I clicked on to it. I did not mind ordering it online since I could alway return it locally.

After I placed the order, I read some opinions/reviews on the Fuze+. They said it was not as friendly as the Fuze but with some downloads from Sansa, it would work the same.

this is a fantastic site if you need so more info and insight on mp3 players.

www.anythingbutipod.com

there is a Sansa subforum on there as well. Should be a great resource

Thanks for the info.

BTW, the 4GB Clip+ will be $30 at Best Buy and RadioShack on BF. I intend on getting several for stocking stuffers, plus an extra one for me to toss in my car.

tubemonkey,

Don't forget to use the $10 off $40 at RS!! That will make the Clips even a sweeter deal. I was going to do that route but when I saw the $40 Fuze+ I went for the video option.

What $10 off $40? A coupon? if so, where?

Edit: I found it - RetailMeNot. Thanks for the heads up.

Sale price on the Sansa Clip+ is already in effect at Radio Shack, I just placed an order.

Thanks for mentioning the coupon!

Thanks for the alert. I just placed 2 orders for 2 Clip+ per order using 2 coupons. That brings the price down to $25 each. What a deal!

Now I have some really great stocking stuffers.

Many thanks to mmread & Catlady for their help.

Fry's has the kingston 16GB MicroSD on BF for $14 after rebate. I got the 8GB on Wed sale for $7 after rebate. I wish RS would match price. I would like to buy their Sandisk SDHC for my Libre AND use the $10 coupon.

tubemonkey,

You got a great deal on the clip+ at RS. My RS would not accept the coupon on BF. I did not try it at a smaller RS. The .com store has it as out of stock.

Thanks. Too bad they wouldn't take your coupon. I had no trouble using two of them. I split my order in half to maximize my savings. Again, thanks for the coupon tip. Ordering them online saved me a trip to the store.

Overall, BF was quite disappointing this year. I hardly spent anything online, because several of the items I wanted are in store only. Looks like I'll do without, because I have no intention of fighting the crowds.

Here I am, warm at home watching James Bond while the mobs fight for their trinkets.
