Why show the Location?

Really enjoying my Kinde 3 so far, one question that pops up in my head - Why show the location bar at the bottom? I find myself wishing that I could toggle it on and off. Is there a hack to allow that per chance?

One of the things I miss in reading on the Kobo is the lack of location info. I love knowing about how far I am in a book. ePubs apparently give you info about the chapter but I want to know how many pages (or locations) are left in the entire book.

Still, I think it would be nice to have the option on the Kindle to toggle info like locations display on or off. In general, the more personalization, the better.

I would imagine one reason is to let you know how far along you are in the book......I like knowing I'm 37% into it, or 92%.....lets me know how much further there is....like a paper book..

True, good point. And it's not annoying at all, does disappear from my mind as I read, I was just curious.
