Cover won't show

Hello. sorry if i do anything wrong. i'm unfamiliar with forum ettiquete in this day and age.

i'm using calibre 64 bit. i'm trying to get an .epub that has a cover. the cover works in the document itself, but on the main page on my kobo, it shows an empty placeholder image as if there is no cover.

does anyone know how to remedy this? thank you for your consideration.

PS i'm not very skilled technically. please be patient. thank you.

Have you set up your cover image as shown in the below image?

it's strange. i ticked 'use cover from source file' and exported as .epub but i renamed the document and when i checked on my kobo the image does show on the main page. maybe... there's some metadata or cache or buffer or whatever that's causing it?
