I feel like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix. All I can do is look dazed and say "Whoa."
Shouldn't this thread be in News? |

I think my heart skipped a few beats while reading the article. Wow! I can't wait to see that on the market.

That flexible screen demo has been around since at least September. Sony borrowed it from E-ink and it does not represent an active project.

I don't know...both of those looked awfully shiny. Glare would be an issue again...

Competition is a good thing. As long as they all don't go bust except one. And it's the one we haven't got!! http://www.chrisscottwilson.co.uk

The "never made it to market" Readius had a 5 inch screen that was rolled up but pulled out of a cell phone.
I recall a YouTube video of flexible display Sony was working on from a couple of years ago. I'm trying to find the thread and if I do I'll post the link. |

article showing the Sony in September
http://www.fastcompany.com/1689406/e...dy-new-screens here's the august article which talks about LGs SEC filing mentioning their production of foil backed flexible displays in this quarter http://uk.ibtimes.com/articles/47509...display-lg.htm Polymer Vision (Readius) was actually only a couple of months from launching the ir first rollable display product when the rug was litereally pulled out from under them when the major financial backer turned out to be involved in a giant Ponzi scheme. They had already produced several hundreds in a initial production run "shakedown". They were purchased from bankruptcy by Wistron. The entire team there has been kept together and been given really great backing by Wistron. The are working hard to create a new up to date version of the Readius, since that initial product would be several years old now. They have recently even hired some new people. This next year could actually see a rollable display product in the market ![]() |

So we're back to scrolls?
Electronic scrolls, but still. And I really, really hate page turn animations. I hope that's not what they meant. |
