Smile Newbie wants to know about drm .mobi
Hi everyone!

I'm from Singapore, a little country in Southeast Asia. I love eBooks but the irritating thing is Amazon, Borders and Apple do NOT allow me to purchase ebooks in Singapore. Hence, I turned to diesel ebooks.

There is this book available only in drm .mobi. Does anyone know if i can read this format on my ipad?

DRM is nasty, Swearnot, an inconvenience and an insult to honest buyers. It's easy to strip and to convert from one format to another using free library software like Clibre ... but no matter how morally justified this might be, it's illegal and we can't discuss it here (instructions all over the net, though). Trouble is not the DRM its the apple. I hate apple because everything is proprietary around them. I am told that apple can only read its own format.

Thank you all for your warm welcome and feedback.

I found a more friendly e-book seller, which is e-books.com. I can simply download its e-book reader software to my iPad and read my purchased book from there.

False. I have ePub and PDF happily working on my iTouch. Neither of these is a proprietary Apple format.
