What's the function of Mobileread that you value most?
As we all know, Mobileread is a huge community, and probably the greatest one concerned with ebook reading hardware and software. As such, there is a number of functions which have been developed over the course of the years, which have a lot of value. I've taken the ones I feel are most representative of Mobileread:
I'd like to know your views on the topic. It can give our administrators valuable input about what's the future that Mobileread should tend to. ![]() |

This should have been a multi-choice vote. Just one choice is not enough. Also, I feel there is not enough choices.

Support and discussion, if I have to choose just one. You can get the other stuff (free PD books, author/reader interaction, bargains) elsewhere.
But I believe that MR is the only place with reasonable posting momentum where multiple readers/formats/e-book & device issues are readily discussed among members who share their knowledge, usually with the experience of more than one brand/outlet, unlike the more specialized sorts of user boards. |

My most valuable experience with MR has been my fellow jetBook Lite owners telling about the new firmware updates and answering my various newbie questions.

That was really difficult to "choose." part of the appeal of this place is the variety of services. I don't frequent any boards for ereading (or, actually, reading in general) because this place has it all! I clicked the meeting point of authors and readers, just because this board has provided me with exposure to many indie authors I wouldn't have otherwise met. Currently, I'm not needing as much technical support, but when I first began, it was all about the tech support!! I really enjoy the general discussions as well as the lounge. Too hard to pick just one, that sort of ignores the thing that truly draws me- *all* of those things in one convenient place, with a bunch of people who are friends, acquaintances, and just plain old helpful people.

Primarily the supportand discussion forums, but.....all the rest as well. Don't change a thing. I love MR as it is and visit it many times a day for one reason or another.
Thank you MR for just being there. |

I appreciate the tech talk about reading devices and software, the discussions about the publishing industry, and being able to meet self-published authors and indie publishers.

The reader specific forums are in my opinion awesome.
They are a great place to learn about ereaders your interested in, they offer fantastic tips on care and feeding of your ereader. The free library is incredible. And the place where readers can meet authors is great. So my vote would have been the first 3 choices or all of the above. |

It's much easier for me to state what i don't like on MR as the only thing i don't like is karma, and the fact that there is no option (at least i havent found it) whether to display your karma or not.
The rest of the board is absolutely fantastic, i have found it so informative and helpfull, it has become one of my most favoured boards now. The community here is very friendly and always happy to help out, the board is also very well kept, i find it always to be responsive and very well maintained. |

Mmmm... I guess the idea hasn't succeeded. You people are right: I should have brought up more things ("social network for readers" as DixieGal has suggested would be a good option) and make it a multiple choice poll, as Jon said.
Still, it's good to have feedback. It's useful for my own forum too. |

Every aspect of the site is valuable to me, but the interaction of the support and discussion is where I spend most of my time.

Given a chance, I would select both The support and discussion forum and The Library. Both make a valuable contribution to the community and I use both frequently. Since we can only choose one response, I selected The Library just because it isn't getting anywhere near enough votes.

Sorry, Logseman. When I replied, I was using my phone and didn't pay enough attention to see it was a poll. I haven't voted above because I can't really choose between my three answers which feature is more valuable. If one aspect was removed, it would greatly affect my enjoyment of Mobile Read.

I voted 'support and discussion forum', but >
I'm not sure if that is the right thing.
I like the Reading Recommendations forum. In addition to the cool book club, I can get ideas for other books I might like to read. A very close second is the ability to meet and socialize with other e-book readers. |
