Tracking reading order

How do you handle the reading orders of books? Do you at all?

This author has several series and several independent books but some of them interrelate to each other. I have each series input into Calibre with series number and I have made a new column for reading order and it tracked this way.

Any ideas or tricks to getting this info on my reader either through the catalog or ...?
Now on the reader, it is in folders by series and each file name is numbered by the order of the series.

Thanks

You could use a series- type custom column for the "global" reading order of that author and use a plugboard to write that information to the reader.

I put the series name and position in front of the book title (e.g., "Eve Dallas 31 - Indulgence in Death"). You have to download metadata (if you plan to) first, because this confuses the search. But it means that the books will sort together when sorting by title.
