Mobipocket next week or in two weeks?

On the iRex front page they say that they have officially partnered with Mobipocket, and a reader will be installed on the iLiad on April 30th.

Sounds legit to me!

what is it with companies and launching things on Fridays, last days of the month, last days of the Quarter...^^

As always with iRex announcements I'll wait and see whether it really happens. I do beleive however that the mobipocket reader will be with us shortly...and I honestly don't care whether it's last day of April or first of May...

Reading the tea leaves, Monday does seem to be the day.

I think that is reasonably solid. There is a BIG splash on the iRex home page that went up yesterday. If you assume the lead time on shipments is down to a few days, it means they should be shipping with it for orders after 26 APR. AND, the press release has both iRex and Mobipocket logos on it. I don't think Mobipocket would want to be involved in a delay. (Haven't seen confirmation on the Mobipocket site yet, btw).

May day? That seems almost as unlikely if they need to coordinate with Mobipocket.

good point - a holiday in France. May is a bad month for releases in Europe !-)

Also it's the IDPF conference in New York next week. iRex are at this (talking in some of the panel discussions), I wouldn't be surprised if this is the target week of release? I hope it's not Monday - that a holiday in the UK ...

I suppose that would depend upon whom from iRex will be attending this conference. Personally, I would not want any key staff away from the office the week I roll out a major software upgrade. But the PR value of announcing a new feature at a major public conference is pretty compelling.

I can understand (and deal with) when they promise something but don't set a firm date and they miss the time frame, but the fact that the website / press release both state from April 30, 2007 onwards. is very disappointing.

According to Irex the delay is now mobipocket
They need to release an update to the reader software for the pc before Irex can release the viewer for the Iliad. As indeed today is May Day it is turning in to a long painful process again.

Well, except for holiday intrusions, lawyers, sunspots...

I'm hoping 'week of' as someone suggested holds up. Happy labor day, May Day, Spring Day or Constitution day, depending on your celebration of choice. And, if you can't find your own reason to celebrate, you can always borrow one - http://www.earthcalendar.net/index.php.
